Listed below are the types of student Financial Aid available for students attending the Adult Center for Education.

Check the links under Financial Aid in the navigation bar on the left for more information.

Federal IV Financial Aid
Includes Pell Grants and Stafford Loans (Subsidized, Unsubsidized, and Parent PLUS).  Students loans cannot be processed until after a student is in class for 30 days.  To qualify for federal financial aid, a student must have a high school diploma or a GED diploma and be enrolled in an eligible program.  Non-graduates must pass a U.S. Department of Education approved “ability to benefit” assessment test.  Financial aid eligibility is based on need, which is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA is the primary application for federal aid.

Senior Citizen Discounts

Present your Golden Buckeye Card at the time of registration and receive a 10% tuition-only* discount on any full-time adult education program. For part-time programs, seniors receive a 10% discount from the published class fee, except for already-discounted classes.

ABLE/GED Scholarship
GED Recipients who have earned their GED within the past 12 months qualify for a 10% tuition only* discount on any full-time adult education program. Proof of your GED is required at the time of program acceptance to qualify for this scholarship.

Recent High School Graduate Scholarships

For students who have recently graduated from one of 16 local high schools, each school annually awards one (1) $1000 scholarship or two (2) $500 scholarships, which are good toward any adult education full-time program (600 hours or more). Contact your high school guidance counselor for details. The cost of materials, assessments, tools, and other fees are not discounted.

Other financial aid options may be available.  Some students may be eligible for Workforce Investment Act benefits through the Department of Job and Family Services, Veterans Benefits, or Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation funding for people with disabilities.  Payment plans are also available.
