Jimmy Allen, an upcoming senior in the Commercial Art Program on the Buffalo Campus of Mid-East Career and Technology Centers, was recently elected as the State President of SkillsUSA Ohio. Allen, who ran against six other students, was required to take a test and write a speech and present it to fellow students. Following the test and speech, the race was narrowed to two candidates each of who were required to give an impromptu speech. Peers voted on the candidates electing Allen for the 2012-13 school year.
Allen will be serving as President of over 28,000 Ohio SkillsUSA members. Ohio has the second highest membership population in the United States. Allen’s duties will include acting as Head Delegate for Ohio; presiding at national and state conferences; attending Nationals in Kansas City, Missouri, attending summer camp at Hocking College; traveling to officer training in Columbus in June; traveling to Washington D.C. in February; and various speaking engagements throughout the term. Allen is the son of Jimmy and Sally Allen of Cambridge.
